BLPD receives generous anonymous gift (s)

Last weekend, an anonymous donor gave the Big Lake Police Dept. $2,200 in cash. According to Police Chief Joel Scharf, the donor has been donating money for the last four years, each year making a larger contribution.

Chief Scharf expressed his gratitude in a Facebook Post, saying, “Our officers are front row to all that can go wrong in our community, this is such an awesome program allowing those same officers to make an immediate difference.”

The money will be given away to Big Lake families that are having a hard time making ends meet. Citizens can recommend that the police donate to a specific family, or the officers themselves can recommend a family to receive a donation if the officer notices they are struggling.

After Chief Scharf published his Facebook post, another donor came in with another $2,000. One of the area churches also donated $1,000 in Coborn’s gift cards.

Holiday donations can be made directly to the Big Lake Police Dept.
