Members of the Briggs Lake Chain Association held their first annual “Lighted Train on the Chain” holiday parade Saturday evening.
Robert Sinclair organized the event in which 17 side-by-side UTV’s, ATVs and golf carts rode from Palmer Park to Kinitski’s via the lake roads, touching all four lakes. The event started at 6 p.m. and concluded in the parking lot of Kinitski’s around 7 p.m. where winners were chosen for best displays.
First place ($75) went to Lyf Titcomb. Second place ($50) went to Robert Sinclair/Tina Elwell and third place ($25) went to John, Jennifer and Kaylee Achman.
Palmer Store sweatshirt was won by Mikaela Johnson and a Kinitski's sweatshirt was won by Lyf Titcomb.
The event was posted to the association’s Facebook page where comments came flooding in for such a great holiday event.
“Great parade. Everyone did a wonderful job on their decorations,” said one visitor.
“Great parade what a awesome idea! Our whole family enjoyed it,” said another.
“We had such a good time being part of the parade and loved seeing everyone who braved the cold to watch,” said another.
The event was regulated to allow smaller vehicles for safety reasons. The vehicles headed southeast along 47th-1/2 Street before going north on 109th Ave. to 42nd Street.
They followed 42nd around the tip of Briggs then down around the top of Julia Lake before heading east and turning south at 124th Ave. SE. Another right on 44th St. SE and another at 121st. Ave. brought the caravan to 42nd. St. SE to the north. A left along 115th Ave. brought a straight shot south to 67th St. and a “touch” of Elk Lake.
The route circled and returned along the same route before turning southwest on 42nd. St. with the final destination at Kinitski’s.
