Three businesses from the Becker area are providing support to veterans through homemade blankets.
T&J Construction, Pizza Depot and Dueling Brews are teaming up to seek volunteers and donors for a cause important to just about every American. Volunteers will be tying blankets for veterans at an event scheduled for Nov. 10 from noon to 3 p.m. at Dueling Brews in Becker. For those interested in signing-up and/or donating, the deadline is Oct. 18.
Dueling Brews is offering a free drink to those who volunteer and Pizza Depot will provide a free slice of pizza to the generous volunteers. T&J Construction has donated $750 towards the drive.
Another blanket making day is scheduled for Mon., Oct. 28 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Dueling Brews. The cost is $10 for new volunteers and free for those who already signed up for the Nov. 10 event.
Pizza Depot says the following: “Message us or call the store at 763-262-2700 to become a business sponsor or to sign up to volunteer to help tie.”
According to information provided by Navy Federal Communications, about 1.5 million veterans in the United States live below the federal poverty level, which increases their risk of homelessness.
