Big Lakers clean up Veterans’ Memorial

Last weekend, the Big Lake American Legion headed a project to clean up the veterans’ memorial located at the intersection of Highways 10 and 25 in Big Lake.

Last Saturday, the group of Big Lake residents collaborated to clean up the memorial; pull out weeds from the flower beds; plant red, white and blue flowers; and put down fresh mulch.

“It’s been an annual thing for about four years now,” said legion commander and city council member Paul Seefeld.

Plants were donated by the American Legion, and mulch was donated by Big Lake citizen George Quinn.

On Sunday, granite benches donated by the legion and Beyond the Yellow Ribbon were put in at the memorial as a new addition.
