Behm Joins Citizen Advertising Sales Staff

Dick Behm of Maple Lake has joined the Citizen advertising sales staff, assuming that portion of the position vacated with the retirement of Idonna Hunter two weeks ago.

He will call on merchants and organizations in Becker, Clear Lake and in Wright County.
 
Behm, a native of South Dakota, has had an extensive career in sales, primarily in the agriculture industry in South Dakota and Minnesota.
 
He most recently was a sales associate of Waconia Farm Supply. From 2002-11, he served as Country Store manager for the Cenex-Lake Region Coop in Maple Lake. 
 
In prior years, he sold for Cenex/Land O’Lakes as a livestock production specialist, for John Morell and Company in Aberdeen and for Ralston Purina, also in Aberdeen.
 
He served for five years, from 1974 to 1979, as county extension agent in Mitchell and Alexandria, SD.
 
He has been extensively involved in community organizations in Wright County, to include the county extension committee, as a Friend of 4-H, the Maple Lake Lions Club, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hasty-Silver Creek Sportsmens Club, the Maple Lake Chamber, as a Camp Courage fundraiser and as a 4-H beef project volunteer at the Minnesota State Fair.
 
Among his many accomplishments were that he started the Minnesota Meat Goat Association, Hanson County, SD Pork Producers, and the Alexandria Community Boosters.
 
Among his international exploits were trips to Russia in 1994 and 1997 as a USAID agriculture specialist, a volunteer position for organization of cooperatives and related marketing.
 
He has also served on the board of Ducks Unlimited and county pork producers in Iowa and South Dakota.
 
Among his professional recognitions was his being named Ralston Purina top salesman in US as a territory manager.
 
He holds a BS degree in animal science from South Dakota State University.
