Becker woman plans to open new cafe

Becker entrepreneur Jessica Treptau plans to open a new cafe in Becker. Her plans have created some buzz both on social media and on some local radio stations. Currently, Treptau successfully runs a COVID-19 testing clinic, Quick Results.

Dueling Brews

The cafe would feature a drive through as well as a space inside for those looking for a place to work on their laptops, Treptau noted.

“Becker needs a coffee shop,” she asserted, and referenced several like comments she had seen online saying just as much.

“People loved Cafe Pawz,” she continued. “Not just for the food and drinks, but to have meetings and work on their computers.”

Treptau plans to set up shop on Bank St., saying access to Hwy. 10 is a must. She’s also interested in possibly featuring local bakers’ goods in her store. Breakfast and lunch options will be also available.

However, Treptau’s most creative idea is what gave her the idea for the name Dueling Brews. Sometime in the future (not when the shop first opens) Treptau would like to be open in the evening hours as a bar, featuring a selection from local breweries.

Treptau’s friend, a graphic designer, created the logo for the shop.

Currently, Treptau does not have a date in mind for the shop’s opening.

Quick Results

Treptau currently runs a COVID-19 testing clinic called Quick Results. She was working as a nurse when she saw the need for rapid COVID-19 testing and decided to go into business for herself. She now has six locations open.

Roots in the Community

Treptau and her family are long-time Becker residents. Her husband runs a company called Everest Steel. The couple have three children all in the Becker school system.

Treptau says her family, particularly her sisters-in-law and her nieces, are excited to help her make her cafe idea into a reality.
