Thirteen Becker choir students under choir director Gretchen Bordson and nine band students under band director Jessica Gilbertson were selected to perform at the 2013-14 Granite Ridge Honors Festival at St. Cloud State University last Saturday.
The Becker students joined with musicians and singers from other conference schools to create a 90-piece band and a 90-voice choir.
The choir students spent the day rehearsing with Dr. Matt Ferrell, the director of choral activities at St. Cloud State University, while the band spent their day working with Dr. Catharine Bushman, a professor of band and music education at SCSU.
The choir and band students enjoyed a day of “intensive study and spirited rehearsals,” Bordson said, after which the ensembles joined together for an evening concert in Ritchie Auditorium on the SCSU campus.
