Taking advantage of the break in the near-constant rain this spring, friends and family filled the Becker High School gymnasium for the Grand March, the visual highlight of BHS Prom 2014 last Saturday afternoon.
“Rustic Romance” was the theme of this year’s event, with prom advisor Traci Mathies and her crew transforming the gymnasium into a cowboy fantasy, with hay bales, fences and footlight candles creating a mood of ranchland elegance for the 142 attendees who braved the flickering pathway, often flash-blinded by the battery of cameras recording the event from the sidelines.
Once the public festivities were concluded, the couples departed for dinner at points unknown before rendezvousing at the Rum River Barn in Hillman, MN, where they danced the night away, up until 11 p.m., anyway.
The members of the 2014 BHS prom committee included the following: Sydney Benda, Katie Pursley, Savannah Johnston, Alyssa Ludens, Madelyn Mohrman, Kayla Hemmelgarn, Kaylea Fox, Brittany Bodien, Emma Buntrock, Andria Howard and Karly Bauer.
