The two newest members of the Becker Police Dept. became official Tuesday evening, being sworn into office at the Becker City Council meeting. Cody Siebert (left) was pinned by his father, Todd, while Tom Gunderson was pinned by his mother, Amy, while Police Chief Brent Baloun looked on. Officer Siebert started with the police department in March and Officer Gunderson in April. They have since completed initial field training programs. “They are an excellent additions to our staff as they fit in well with staff and believe in the ideas of hard work, integrity and professionalism that I believe are exemplified daily in the work of our police officers in Becker,” said Chief Baloun. Siebert, born in Bremerton, WA, attended Lake Superior Community College in Duluth and attended SCSU, graduating with a degree in criminal justic studies and a minor in general business. He attended the skills program at Alexandria Technical College in 2015. His father is a police officer. Gunderson is from Oakdale, MN, graduating from North St. Paul High School and attending Minnesota State University-Mankato. He finished his police skills training in Alexandria last year. He wants some day to be a K-9 officer.
