The Central Minnesota Farm Show Committee awarded seven scholarships worth $1000 each at the 2019 Central Minnesota Farm Show.
Jalissa Johnson, Becker, was the recipient of one of these scholarships.
Johnson studies biology and pre-veterinary medicine at the University of Minnesota-Morris.
“My goal is to get into the VetFAST program, where I can declare myself as a food animal vet,” she said. “I grew up working on my family’s dairy farm, which taught me a lot about hard work and inspired my focus of working with large animals.”
The Central Minnesota Farm Show, sponsored by the St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce, is the largest show of its kind in the upper Midwest. It takes place annually at the St. Cloud River’s Edge Convention Center. Since 1998, the St. Cloud Area Chamber has used proceeds from the Farm Show to award educational scholarships totaling $77,000 to students pursuing a career in agriculture.
Scholarships are available for both high school and post-secondary students. For more information on this event, visit CentralMNFarmShow.com.
