Becker Man Arrested In Big Lake

At approximately 6:58 p.m. on July 29, an unidentified Becker Police Officer was dispatched to a suspicious vehicle complaint in the 14000 block of Bank Street in Becker.
 
After making contact with the driver, the officer learned the male driver may have a warrant for his arrest.
 
In the course of verifying this warrant, the male driver and female passenger jumped back into the vehicle and fled the scene.
 
The officer immediately got on the tail of the suspect’s vehicle and a chase ensued south of Becker toward Monticello and through the City of Big Lake, with the pursuit ending with the suspect’s vehicle crashing near Hwy. 10 and 168th Street.
 
The male driver, identified as Jason Meredith Yort, 39, of Becker, was transported to the Monticello Hospital for minor injuries and released. Yort is 6’4” and weighs 225-lbs. He has brown hair and blue eyes and is caucasian.
 
The female passenger (unidentified) from Becker, was released.
 
Yort was transported to the Sherburne County Jail and booked in for pending charges of fleeing in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and other various traffic offenses.
He was also arrested for the warrant. Yort has had warrants from Anoka and Hennepin counties.
 
The incident is still under investigation.
