Becker Man Arrested After Brandishing Gun

A Becker man was arrested late Thursday night by Becker police after a woman ran from a residence where she said the man had threatened her with a gun.
 
At approximately 10:37 p.m. in the 11000 block of Katherine Avenue, officers were dispatched after being notified of a potential domestic assault. Upon arrival, police encountered a man who was identified as being intoxicated and combative with officers, according to the police department.
 
The man resisted commands from the officers and he was ultimately “tazed” for his safety and the safety of the officers.
 
Becker Police arrested John Joseph Bendtsen, 49, of Becker who was taken to Monticello Hospital for treatment of a minor injury and then taken to Sherburne County Jail.
Bendtsen was booked for investigation of second-degree assault, terroristic threats, fifth-degree domestic assault and obstructing legal process.
 
The female involved in the incident was not injured.
 
Becker Police were assisted by the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office.
