Becker Library Hosts Escape Room Adventure

Fifteen library patrons headed to the Becker Library May 6 to participate in a fun group program designed to challenge their mental dexterity.

The event was the library’s first-ever Escape Room Adventure, their take on a game that’s been popping up in communities around the country for the past several years.

An Escape Room is a mental and physical adventure-based game in which players solve a series of puzzles and riddles using clues, hints, and strategy to complete the objectives at hand. Players participate in teams consisting of two to 12 people, and are given a set time limit to unveil the secret plot which is hidden within the rooms.

Escape rooms are inspired by “escape-the-room” style video games. The games are set in a variety of fictional locations, such as prison cells, dungeons, and space stations, and the various puzzles and riddles themselves usually follow the theme of the room.

Each of the library’s escape room sessions were 20 minutes long, just enough time for participants to enjoy the experience and solve the problems required to “escape.”

Patrons had a great time challenging themselves; one group even traveled from Long Prairie to take part in the fun.

The Escape Room Adventure was sponsored by the Becker Friends of the Library.
