The Becker Middle School Holiday talent show included a salute to U.S. Armed Forces personnel past and present with the naming of the winner of the 2014 essay contest sponsored by Becker American Legion Post 193.
Seventh-grader Taylor Larson was judged the winner for her essay writing on the theme of “What Veteran’s Day Means to Me.” She received a certificate of achievement and a gift card presented to her on the stage at the BHS Performing Arts Center by Legion members and contest judges John Riebel and Roger Bigalke.
A group of 35 Middle School students took part in the contest, and both judges commented that the high quality of the entries this year made the selection process a difficult one.
