The Becker Hearts and Hands Quilt Guild is hosting a quilt show July 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Becker High School.
There will be more than 150 quilts on display, all created by members of the guild. Included are black and white wall hanging quilts that were part of a challenge contest among guild members.
The show is sponsored by Steil Insurance.
There will be a five dollar admission to the event, and proceeds go toward the purchase of materials for making quilts that are donated to local charities. Attendees can enjoy the showcase and shop the vendors in attendance, including a knife and scissors sharpening vendor.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to win a king-size black and white quilt created by the guild.
This will be the third show the Becker guild has put on. Prior to holding their own show, they participated in a show in Monticello.
The Hearts and Hands Guild has been a part of the Becker community for about 30 years. It consists of 40 members. When not putting on their quilt show, the members of the guild make quilts and other creations to give back to the community. They participate with local groups, like Great River Faith in Action, as well as reaching out to individuals in the community, such as victims of fire or illness, to get their creations to those in need.
In 2023, the club donated 115 quilts, 14 fidget quilts and 143 pillow cases, among other items.
New members are welcome to join. Those interested should contact Elizabeth Steckelberg at Eliza@Midco.com. The club meets at the Becker Baptist Church on the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m.
