The Becker Food Shelf Board met last week to discuss several topics including a notice to the community of their new location at Becker Furniture World.

Executive Director/Treasurer Marilyn Danielson was joined by President David Johnson, Secretary Nathan Bass and board members Gerry Bass, Father Mike Kellogg, Shane Rademacher and Tanya Danielson.

Mayor Mark Kolbinger also made an appearance at the meeting held at Dueling Brews in Becker.

The board talked about the food shelf’s finances, some grants and some gifting, volunteerism and other topics.

Mayor Kolbinger was invited to tour the current Food Shelf location at Becker Furniture World, who graciously opened a spot in their building for usage by the Food Shelf. According to reports, Mayor Kolbinger was “pleasantly surprised by the wonderful space and variety of food that is offered.”

The Becker Food Shelf served 156+ families last year and their need continues to rise. They are extremely grateful to the many individuals and businesses who have stepped up to help by giving financial gifts or food and volunteering their precious time.

A special thanks goes to Second Harvest, Kwik Trip, Dollar General, Edling Potatoes and Bill’s Family Foods. The Food Shelf is open Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The door to the store is on the far east side of the BFW building, Door #5.
