Last weekend, officers from the Becker Police Dept. apprehended several suspects in alleged drug activities and stolen vehicles and ultimately made five arrests.
Last Friday, one undisclosed officer noticed a vehicle near the Deli Plus Gas Station at 9:51 p.m. that had a broken taillight.
Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer questioned the driver, 23-year-old Kodie Lee Kelash of Rice, who subsequently gave the Becker PO a false name and paperwork for the vehicle. It was soon discovered the driver had a license under revocation and no insurance. There was also one passenger in the car.
The Becker police officer was later assisted by Sherburne County Deputies and officers from Big Lake.
Kelash had told the officers he did not know who owned the vehicle he was driving and his passenger, 19-year-old Melanie Ann Quick of St. Cloud played dumb in the matter as well.
An investigation was conducted in regards to the vehicle possibly being stolen, but it was later discovered the vehicle in fact belonged to a friend of Kelashes.
Quick, it was discovered, was in possession of a controlled substance and was intending to distribute. She also had felony and gross misdemeanor Benton County warrants on her record.
Both parties were arrested on scene and transported to Sherburne County jail.
Sunday, three undisclosed Becker police officers received information which culminated in an investigation of drug activity at 2 a.m. at a residence on 1st Street (13000 block). One of the officers noticed an impaired person walk from the residence to a vehicle and subsequently pulled him over for questioning. Thirty-three-year-old Jesse Allan Bodendrier of Princeton was eventually arrested and transported to jail for possession of stolen property (vehicle).
One of the participating Becker police officers suspected there was more to the activity at the said address and was later able to execute two search warrants for the property on 1st Street in relation to the earlier arrest.
Following the issuance of the warrants, Becker and Big Lake police, as well as deputies from Sherburne County, ultimately made an arrest on 29-year-old Priscilla Marie Trepanier of Buffalo for third degree possession of methamphetamine, possession of drugs in the presence of a minor (two-year-old) and child endangerment.
Thirty-three-year-old Shawn Lee Gums of Monticello was also arrested at the scene for second degree possession of methamphetamine.
Sherburne County Social Services took custody of the child at the scene and the toddler is now with a foster family.
All subjects were booked into Sherburne County jail pending charges listed.
