The Becker Compost Site off of 153rd Ave. experienced a small fire in the afternoon last Friday. A leaf pile was found to be smouldering by residents using the site. The Becker Fire, Police, and Public Works departments responded quickly and extinguished the fire.

While there was no fire damage to the surrounding housing development, the Becker City and Becker Police Facebook pages put out a warning that there was some heavy smoke in the area and that the compost site would be closed as the Becker Fire and Public Works Departments cleaned up the area.

The compost site reopened on Monday.
