Stearn County Commissioners hosted the food safety awards at their Board Meeting this morning. On order, plaques-to-go to one restaurant and one school, each recognized for their work in the area of food safety.
Honored with the food safety awards in 2019 were the A & W restaurant in Albany and Discovery Elementary School in Waite Park. Both were given a plaque showing their commitment and outstanding achievement in food safety.
A & W owners, Julie & Jeremy Glenz, accepted their award. Head Cook Bonnie Molitor, Second Cook Karen Schreifels, and Kitchen Assistants Melissa Dombrovski, Wanda Ostendorf & Patti Shoutz accepted the award on behalf of Discovery School.
Every year since 2003 Stearns County’s Environmental Services Department issued a Food Safety Award to one school and one business within the County. The awards are presented to those establishments that do an excellent job promoting food safety in their business year after year.
Stearns County’s Environmental Services Department is responsible for inspections of restaurants located within the county. Stearns County licenses approximately 400 food establishments.
