ASHLEY (L) AND ALLISON (R) love animals and have dedicated their earnings from their lemonade stand directly to the Tri-County Animal Humane Society. Above, Ashley holds Tiger — one of the family’s two cats while Allison held Chico — one of the family’s three rabbits.

Ashley And Allison Helping Animals With Lemonade Stand

Two animal-loving sisters held their fourth annual Tri-County Humane Society garage and lemonade sale this week — hoping to raise $1,000 to benefit the organization that cares for animals.

Ashley, 11 and her sister, Allison, nine of Becker Twp. were “manning” their lemonade stand outside their family’s garage from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. all day this week to raise the money. The garage sale is the result of 12 families coming together in the area and donating toys, clothing, books, coolers, tools and hundreds of household items.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the girls had raised over $800 from selling lemonade, homemade banana bread, cookies and bars, soda and Welch’s Fruit Snacks. They also decided to serve coffee and muffins for the early morning crowds which the girls say boosted their business even more.

Ashley and Allison and their family have 11 pets of their own including three rabbits, two cats, three guinea hens, one duck and two fish. Both girls have the hope of working either for the humane society someday or be part of a veterinarian team.

Last year the girls raised $230 and 100% of the proceeds went to the humane society.

Next year, the plan is to continue the tradition with possibly even a loftier goal.
