At the April 3 Becker City Council meeting, council discussed insurance, anniversaries and proclaimed April as volunteer appreciation month in Becker. The meeting lasted 11 minutes.
Volunteers
In a gesture aimed at honoring those who serve, Mayor Tracy Bertram read a proclamation designating the month of April as volunteer appreciation month.
Seven area volunteers appeared before council and posed for photographs while Bertram honored their passion, hard work and dedication to serving others in the community.
Cookies and other treats were served before and after the meeting.
Insurance Renewal
Finance Director Connie Robinson presented council with information in regards to the 2018-19 property/casualty insurance renewal.
Robinson noted some changes that included an LMCIT rating change for the auto physical damage premium that primarily affects police vehicles. Other items include excess liability coverage and excess liquor liability. Robinson mentioned the liquor liability premium is higher due to higher estimated receipts.
The total premium for property/casualty is $104,524. The total property/casualty with the liquor liability is $115,251 compared to $112,156 from last year (a 2.7% increase).
The renewal was adopted.
Anniversaries
Mayor Bertram announced service anniversaries that included five city staffers:
Jacob Sanders - one year; Paul Hickerson - three years; Connie Robinson - four years; Al Foss - 22 years; Cindy Kacek - 24 years.
