Goenner Park in Clear Lake was the place to be July 23, with approximately 800 people enjoying food, music, fireworks and the company of friends and neighbors at the annual Clear Lake Firefighter’s Dance.
Youth from St. Marcus Church in Clear Lake were also at the park raising money for their Castaway Retreat, and the Clear Lake American Legion Post 354 sold smoked chicken to raise money for veterans and the Firefighters Relief Fund.
Raffle ticket sales continued through the early part of the event, with the winners drawn that evening. First prize was $300, second $200 and third $100. Four $50 and four $25 prizes were also given away, along with numerous door prizes.
Starting at 4, the firefighters offered pork chops from McDonald’s Meats, which sold out before the night was over, along with hamburgers, French fries and a variety of beverages.
The Hell Country Truckers played from 8 to midnight, with fireworks lighting up the sky at dusk.
All proceeds from the dance benefitted the Clear Lake Firefighters Relief Association.
The Clear Lake Volunteer Fire Dept. provides fire and rescue coverage for the city and Clear Lake and Palmer Townships. They also aid other area fire depts, when needed, including Becker, Clearwater and St. Cloud.
The firefighters would like to thank the community for their support, and everyone who helped make the dance a success.
