Area Boasts Numerous Beautiful House Displays

The night skies continue to be lit up in celebration of a Christmas now past. But just because Christmas Eve and Day have passed, it doesn’t mean the season of lights is over.

Many homes in Becker, Haven, Palmer, Santiago and the local townships feature numerous beautiful displays to still capture with sight or with ones camera or cell phone.

Local residents are blessed with not just one, but two synchronized-to-music light shows to enjoy through the holidays.

After a break last year, Clearwater Lights continues its long-running tradition of entertaining crowds on the 300 block of Main Street Clearwater. The light show plays nightly beginning at 5:30 p.m. through Dec. 31. All money donated goes to the Clearwater/Clear Lake food shelf.

For the third year in a row, Chad Koren and Kari Mechtel also entertained carloads of people with their light show at 8166 Hunter Lake Drive in Clear Lake. Inspired by the light show in Clearwater, Koren taught himself how to use the program needed to create synchronized light shows and he and Mechtel designed their own display, adding to it every year.

The couple are firefighters; all money raised from their synchronized-to-music light show is donated to the Clear Lake Fire Dept.
