The Becker Youth Baseball program kicked off their summer season with their annual spring clean-up event this past week.
The event brought together over 40 parent volunteers, city maintenance staff and baseball board members to collect the accumulation of offseason garbage, clean and organize the facilities and make much needed repairs at the Becker Athletic Complex (BAC) baseball fields.
“This event is a great opportunity to bring together the city and the community in support of the youth baseball program,” said Matt Eigen, a Becker Youth Baseball board member. “With the additional help we were able to improve the appearance of the complex as well as do some of the much-needed maintenance that we were not able to do in past years. “
This season more than 400 local youth baseball players ranging in age from 4-17 will participate in the program. League games will be played at the BAC weekly from May through July for the summer season. In addition to league games, the program will sponsor five tournaments this summer, showcasing their facilities and community to over 40 teams of players, coaches and parents from as far away as Winnipeg, Canada.
