Alzheimer’s Group Offers Information

Survey results are being processed as members of ACT on Alzheimer’s – Becker prepare for their first community event set for Tue., March 19 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Becker.  The event is open to all area residents, and a dinner will be provided free of charge as part of the program, according to organizer Tami Kolbinger.

ACT reports 88,000 Minnesotans are currently living with Alzheimer’s disease, and the numbers are expected to rise sharply in the years to come.  There are now 82 people in Becker aged 65 to 84 who currently have Alzheimer’s, and 72 who are aged 85 or older.  A total of 22 people aged 65 or older have the disease and live alone.

The goal of the ACT event is to build an action plan to help create an “informed, safe and respectful community for individuals and families living with memory loss,” organizers said.

While pre-registration is not required, an RSVP will help in preparing the dinner for the event, organizers said.  To respond, contact Tami Kolbinger at (763) 310-6574, or on-line at tamikolbinger@goodshepherdcampus.org.
