Dan Angell and Vern Johnson, owners of Angell’s Construction, completed an addition on their building last year in order to make space for their new company, All Purpose Rentals. All Purpose Rentals opened its doors for business this April, and into its ninth week open, it has already established a steady stream of business.
Being in business for over twenty years, Angell’s Construction is proof that they know how to run a business, but they still had to invest a lot of time and money in order to launch All-Purpose Rentals. It requires a significant amount of organization and planning to set up procedures and develop software for putting everything into place.
“You don’t see many start-up rental businesses, because the upfront investment of time, resources, and money are enormous,” said Vern Johnson. “It was challenging, but Dan and I are the ones who coordinate everything around here, so with that we still offer the same personal touches as you see with Angell’s Construction, and we instill the same core values into All Purpose Rentals as well.”
All Purpose Rentals specializes in air tools and guns, gas driven equipment, spring cleanup equipment, and power tools, but their inventory includes much more. What’s unique about this rental place is they have been adding new stuff almost daily, based on requests from renters and community members. What’s even better is that the equipment at All-Purpose is mostly brand new—which is not usually the case if you go somewhere else for rentals.
Becker moms and clubs will be happy to know that All Purpose Rentals offers more than just tools. They have party supplies such as tents, chairs, tables, bouncy houses, dunk tanks and food machines (nacho cheese, popcorn, slushies, etc.) as well as coolers, cookers and more to make graduation, birthday, and wedding celebrations easier to plan.
Vern explained that the idea for opening All Purpose Rentals came from the need to constantly rent or buy equipment while doing jobs through Angell’s Construction. As a result, the owners have become familiar with the process of renting. Additionally, as members of the American Rental Association, they have the advantage of networking with other professionals in the rental industry to gather insight and suggestions for their business management.
“We have a lot of knowledge on the things we rent since we use these industry tools in our construction business. We wanted to offer Becker and surrounding area locals the opportunity to rent equipment without having to go far for what they need,” Vern said.
If you need to rent something but aren’t sure how to use it, Dan, Vern and their team will train you, or you can access tutorials online. In fact, some of the rental equipment even has a texting tutorial option. Setting up your profile on-line allows you to see item availability, associated pricing, book or reserve you items, and even see all of your previous order history. This streamlined process attracts a good portion of the All Purpose Rentals customers; many take advantage of these features.
The company is located on 14195 Bank Street in Becker and has a Facebook page and website if you want to contact them for rentals or with any questions.
