This year’s Clearwater Heritage Days activities on Saturday are limited compared to recent years.
But the annual 5k run/walk will be going on as scheduled.
The event originally started and ended at Sportsman’s Park, but was shifted to Warner Lake Park two years ago.
Participation has been good every year, and organizers are hoping for a good turnout again this year.
The family-friendly event is run by the St. Cloud Tech High School Cross Country Team, whose members volunteered their time to make sure the race is successful.
Over the years, participants have ranged in age from early teens and younger, to seniors in their 70’s, and everyone has fun. Prizes are awarded for the top finisher in each age group.
The race is just a week away, but there’s still time to take part. Regular online registration ends today (Saturday, July 29) at http://techcc5k.zapvent.com. The cost is $18. Participants can also register beginning 7 a.m. on race day for $20.
The 5k starts at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Free Blend FitKids Fun Run at 9:30 a.m., complete with bibs and prizes.
