37th Clearwater Rodeo Starts Friday

The 37th Annual Clearwater Rodeo, hosted by the Silver Bullet Saddle Club, takes place next weekend, Aug. 19-21 at the rodeo arena on Co. Rd. 7 in Clearwater Twp. 
 
The rodeo is the biggest annual event in the Clearwater area, typically drawing thousands of people from all across the Midwest. 
 
During the three-day event, people of all ages get to watch rodeo competitors in action bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, barrel racing, calf roping, breakaway roping, team roping and steer wrestling. 
 
Kids can also take part in the action during intermissions with the calf ribbon contest for kids up to 12 and the mutton busting competition for kids 5-7.
 
There are also free pony rides, sponsored by the Clear Lake Lions. 
 
The cook shack, located behind the stands, is open all during the rodeo and serves burgers, hot dogs, fries and soft drinks. So is the Beer Garden, sponsored by the Clearwater Lions. And there are lots of souvenirs available behind the stands. 
 
The action begins 7 p.m. Friday evening. Following the rodeo is the rodeo dance, with DiamondBack providing the music.
 
Saturday’s action begins with a barbecue supper at 4 p.m., with the rodeo action beginning at 6 p.m. The rodeo dance, featuring HoneyBadgers, follows all the action. 
 
Sunday begins with a cowboy church service at 10 a.m. followed by rodeo action at 2 p.m.  
 
 Advance tickets are $11 for adults and $6 for seniors and kids under 12. 
 
(Children 4 and under, free.)
 
Admission at the gate is $14 for adults and $7 for seniors and kids.
 
A three-day pass is $30.
 
Tickets are available at most Clearwater stores, the Boot Shack in St. Cloud, the Boot Barn at the Crossroads Mall, BP Amoco in Clear Lake, the Clear Lake Elevator and Coborn’s and Cash Wise stores in the St. Cloud and surrounding area.
