July 6, the Sherburne County Drug Task Force executed a narcotics search warrant at a residence in the 10100 block of 14th Ave in the city of Becker. Investigators located approximately 19 grams of fentanyl and over a pound of marijuana.
Investigators also located hallucinogenic mushrooms and marijuana wax. Investigators arrested Timothy Cairl (19) and Frank Cairl (47), both from Becker.
Timothy Cairl is being held at the Sherburne County Jail for pending charges of 3rd degree possession of a controlled substance. Frank Cairl is being held in the Sherburne County Jail pending arraignment for three counts of 5th degree possession of a controlled substance.
Within the past two weeks, the Becker Police Dept. and Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office responded to two separate incidents of possible fentanyl overdoses in the city of Becker. The victims were administered multiple doses of Narcan by responding deputies and officers on scene. Narcan is a medication that First Responders administer when opioid overdose is suspected. The victims were transported to the St. Cloud Hospital for evaluation and survived. The fentanyl overdoses are being investigated as being linked to the address where the search warrant was executed by the Sherburne County Drug Task Force. The task force was assisted on scene by the Becker Police Department, the Elk River Police Dept., and CentraCare ambulance.
The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office has recently seen an increase in fentanyl and opiate related instances throughout the county. The fentanyl is most commonly in liquid form. It is being stored and ingested through common nasal spray containers.
The Sherburne County Substance Use Prevention Coalition has created a website to inform the public of the dangers of narcotics, such as fentanyl.
