2024 Budget & Levy Hearing Meeting Minutes

November 30, 2023

The following Commissioner’s were present: Commissioner Fobbe, Commissioner Felber, Commissioner Danielowski, Commissioner Gray, Commissioner Felber. 

Also present from the County staff were:  Bruce Messelt, County Administrator; Dan Weber, Assistant County Administrator; Christina Kent, Administration; Michelle Moen, Assessor; Dave Selbitschka; Diane Arnold, Auditor/Treasurer; Carmen Schommer, Auditor/Treasurer; Loraine Rupp; Michelle Ashe. 

Commissioner Fobbe, Chairperson, called the Truth in Taxation Hearing to order at 6:00 p.m. in the County Board Room of the Sherburne County Government Center followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. 

Commissioner Fobbe introduced Bruce Messelt, County Administrator.

Administrator Messelt presented a PowerPoint presentation. Individuals with specific value and classifications questions or concerns were instructed to meet with available Assessment personnel.

Commissioner Fobbe opened the Public Hearing at 6:27 p.m. 

17 members of the public spoke at the meeting regarding increasing property values and taxes and looking at finding ways to make cuts.  They also asked about the formula for calculating property taxes. 

County Administrator Messelt thanked everyone for coming and encouraged citizens to call with any questions.

Commissioner Fobbe closed the Public Hearing at 7:57 p.m.

Commissioner comments:

The County Board of Commissioners thanked those who attended and spoke tonight and briefly discussed the proposed 2024 County Budget and Levy.  It was noted that the County Board will consider action on the proposed 2024 County Budget and Levy at the upcoming December 19th, 2023, Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners.

Commissioner Fobbe adjourned the meeting at 8:07 p.m.
