The following official summary of the interim ordinance referred to has been approved by the City Council of Becker as clearly informing the public of the intent and effect of the interim ordinance.
Chapter 10, Public Protection, Crimes and Offenses
The purpose and intent of this ordinance is to establish temporary predatory offender residency regulations similar to the predatory offender regulations that have been promulgated by various Minnesota cities to allow the City of Becker to have regulations and protections in effect for the health, safety, and welfare of its citizens during the City's study and planning activities related to the possible enactment of permanent predatory offender residence regulations. The most common predatory offender residence regulations have prohibitions of residencies within certain distances of places and areas where children are known to congregate. The ordinance is intended to facilitate the study, adoption or amendment of official controls related to the City of Becker City Code, whereby City Staff can study common residency distance regulations and other regulation approaches that may result in the permanent adoption and enactment of reasonable predatory offender residency regulations for the City of Becker.
A printed copy of the entire ordinance is available for inspection by any person at City Hall any Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
This document hereby is made a part of this ordinance and is attached hereto.
