The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) will host a public meeting on a proposed Northern Metals facility on Thursday May 10, 2018 at the Becker Community Center at 11500 Sherburne Avenue, Becker, Minnesota 55308. The event will begin with an informal open house from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. followed by a presentation from the MPCA and a question and answer session. The MPCA will provide information about the draft air emissions permit and the Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW). The public notice period for the EAW and draft air emissions permit will start Monday April 16, 2018 and end Friday May 18, 2018 and will be noticed separately. On April 16, 2018 a copy of the full web notice, the draft permit, and technical support document will be available on the MPCA’s website at http://www.pca.state.mn.us/publicnotices. A copy of the EAW will be available on the MPCA’s website at https://www.pca.state.mn.us/eaw. 

Northern Metals, LLC plans to construct a scrap metal recycling center in the general industrial area in the City of Becker. The Project consists of an enclosed metal shredder, an enclosed ferrous processing building, an enclosed metal recovery plant, an end of life vehicle process, and a community recycling center.
