Becker Public Schools Launches May 11 Referendum Campaign Website

BulldogsStrong.com provides information about the proposed plan to address critical needs

Becker, Minn. - Becker Public Schools announced today that the website BulldogsStrong.com has launched to share details about the upcoming $37.5 million bond referendum plan with a $0 net tax increase to District resident above the current tax rate. This plan will address the District’s most critical facility and educational-related needs across all sites.

For several years, our District has worked hard to identify, quantify, and prioritize our needs. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has presented many challenges, it remains clear that schools are the best places for students to learn and grow. As we look to our District’s future, we want to ensure students are best prepared for life beyond our walls. Now, residents can find details about how the District plans to address these needs.

If approved by voters, this plan would address space and program needs, capacity needs, build a new transportation facility, complete various deferred maintenance and infrastructure needs, and other District-wide improvements - all for a $0 net tax increase above the current tax rate. “The May referendum is a huge opportunity for our District,” said Superintendent Jeremy Schmidt. “Our School Board has worked hard to use taxpayer money well through the refinancing of existing debt. We’ve also worked alongside our community members to take our long-range financial plan into consideration - positioning our District for a bright future.”

The District encourages all community members to visit BulldogsStrong.com for details about our needs, the proposed plan, voting information, and more. Early voting by absentee ballot begins Friday, March 26. Residents with questions or feedback are to visit https://www.bulldogsstrong.com/connect or reach out to Superintendent Jeremy Schmidt at jschmidt@isd726.org or 763-261-4502.
