The Paycheck
Protection Program
Last Friday, the Paycheck Protection Program was launched by the Small Business Administration. This program was created under the CARES Act, and will provide more than $349 billion in loans to help small businesses retain employees and manage expenses during the COVID-19 outbreak. For information about eligible entities, the benefits of this program and applications for businesses and lenders, visit my website.
Minnesota is also included in the Small Business Administration’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program, which is designed to assist small businesses and private non-profits harmed by COVID-19. For information about eligible entities, benefits of the program, and access to the application, visit my website.
Beware of Scams!
Due to the CARES Act, passed on March 27, cash assistance will be provided to Americans with the amount being dependent on income level and family size. The federal government is offering expanded financial assistance to Americans as we combat the coronavirus outbreak.
Recently, there has been an uptick in scams related to these coronavirus relief checks. These scams can be in the form of emails, text messages, websites, and social media. Please be wary of red flags such as requests for money or personal taxpayer information.
Donate Blood!
The Red Cross is ensuring a safe process to donate blood, and they are taking extra precautions to protect donors and staff during the coronavirus outbreak. As we combat this disease, more Americans will need blood. Please consider sharing your health with your fellow Americans. Find a Red Cross blood drive and make an appointment.
The Red Cross is also currently seeking people who are fully recovered from COVID-19 and are willing to donate plasma to help current patients with serious or immediately life-threatening COVID-19 infections.
