I was disappointed to see that among the three candidates that filed to fill the vacancy on the Becker Planning Commission that, according to the applications submitted, the individual selected was chosen over candidates with a demonstrated history of planning experience at both the state and local levels and appeared to be the least qualified.

 

Not to mention the individual did not fulfill the entire application process, according to public information, and the conflict of interest presented by having a spouse working for Becker overseeing the city's finances.

 

While communities around Becker continue to grow and prosper it seems our representatives continue with a philosophy I often hear from many residents that "it’s not what you know but who you know". How does that move the city forward in a direction beneficial to everyone's best interests?
