To The Editor

After reading what someone wrote in the mayors blog, residents should be aware there is more to the argument regarding a move from an enterprise fund to the general fund.

Richard Singer, the latest consultant being cherry picked for information, not only recognizes previous expert opinion but also says that moving to general fund accounting and operating as a amenity is not similar to investing in other recreation assets that cost less and goes on to say “Losses are often masked by this method”. The consultant also discourages funding renovations that “Relies on outside, or infrequent golfers for support” yet the mayor and council are trying to justify funding $300,000 in capital improvements for what they want us to believe is a destination point for visitors 1 or 2 times a year?

I call B.S. that the mayor is concerned about transparency and preservation of assets with the golf course being in the hands of the right people. Ms. Bertram has been on the city council for almost 10 years with 4-1 and 3-2 majorities and never pursued it before. And if transparency is important, why is she now explaining herself after a resident brought this out following seven months of prior discussion?

Lastly, council members Keller, Hanharan, Doering and Mayor Bertram, this is not high school. I listened to the audio. Mocking the former mayor and residents of Becker off camera because they act, or think differently shows a lack of integrity. Please grow up.
