On Nov. 11, we stop to honor the brave men and women of our US Armed Forces and to remember the sacrifices they have made to keep our Great Nation safe.

 

I am especially filled with pride to see our community host events to recognize the veterans and service members. One of the events was held at the BASC (Becker Area Senior Center) titled "Honor and Remember". Thank you Mike LaBelle for explaining what each detail on the flag symbolizes. Carol Brunn and BASC members did a fine job hosting this event along with a delicious lunch. 

 

The next event I attended was at the high school auditorium. As I drove into the school parking lot, I noticed a number of pickup trucks lined up with US flags mounted in the boxes of them. What a great show of support students - that was cool!  Thank you to Mark Kolbinger, staff and students for organizing this assembly. Special thanks to Staff Sergeant Craig Vogl (aka band director) and the 34th ID band for entertaining us with some great music.
