To The Editor

On this Memorial Day weekend at almost all cemetaries veterans honor those fellow veterans that raised their hands and proudly said “For God and Country etc.” I ask you to look at the marker or monument and wonder what it was like for that veteran to leave his parents, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles and serve his country.

I can say for a lot of veterans we do not want sympathy, just respect for those that offered to serve and to some who gave up their lives or ended up permanently in the VA system. One way can be to attend the many services or dinners served afterwards by the wives, mothers, sisters (Ladies Auxiliary) or SAL (Sons of the American Legion), of those veterans

who have passed on or are still serving. There is a saying a veteran never stops serving in one way or another. Just say thank you to the proud wives, mothers, sisters and grandmothers as well as the veterans at those services or dinners show your support.
