This week, the House of Representatives passed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act to protect American elections and every American’s right to vote. This commonsense legislation, which we were proud to cosponsor, requires proof of citizenship for voter registration and ensures non-citizens are purged from existing voter rolls.

Earlier this year, Minnesotans saw radical, pro-terrorist activists set up encampments on the University of Minnesota campus. To appease these demonstrators, interim University President Jeff Ettinger signed an agreement with the UMN Divest Coalition unknowingly endorsing the Palestinian Liberation Organization’s “Thawabit.” This term has been used to advocate for the destruction of the State of Israel and justifies Palestinian acts of terror against the Jewish people. This is unacceptable and needs to be addressed.

As the new school year approaches, we sent a letter to the University of Minnesota’s new President, Rebecca Cunningham, asking how she plans to remedy President Ettinger’s endorsement of this and asked for details on concrete steps she is taking to protect Jewish students. Generations of Minnesotans have attended the University of Minnesota, we must ensure its campus is a safe and welcoming environment for all students.
