I am co-hosting an event with the Elk River Area and Big Lake Chambers of Commerce about the state’s new Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) law. Employers and the public are invited to attend the event to learn more about the ways this new law will impact businesses in the area. The event will take place on November 1st, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Metal Craft, 13760 Business Center Drive in Elk River.
It is critically important to understand the details of this law and how it is going to impact both employers and employees. This informative session with local leaders, employers, and officials from the Department of Labor & Industry will provide detailed guidelines and resources to help folks effectively implement this new law.
Dave Skovholt, a Labor Standards expert at the Minnesota Department of Labor & Industry, will also be attending to help further explain the new law that goes into effect on January 1, 2024. Mr. Skovholt will give an overview of the law and then take specific questions from business leaders and local officials.
The event is free for Chamber members and $15 for non-members.
