On Abridging Of ‘Civil Liberties’

Nine state legislatures have invoked the “Red Flag Law” in an attempt to curb mass murders by crazy people, like the shooters at El Paso and Dayton, OH.

The new laws provide authorities in those states to research and, if they deem necessary to retain certain people who by their behavior exhibit tendencies to become the next mass murderers.

There hasn’t been much talk about the issue in Minnesota.

I feel there should be a lot of discussion - and action.

The civil rights people will be offended by these laws because it will take away the rights of certain individuals.

But that should be countered by the argument our nation has become a free shooting zone for people who are so distraught with their lives, who hate others so much, they feel it would be worth it for a day in the headlines. And the more downed people in the process, the more successful they have been. Right?

Make sure there is due process for these individuals - and quickly administered.

And after the hearings, make sure their killer weapons are out of the house and out of the car.

Hair on the back of the neck of the NRA is rising right about now.

It’s time the NRA realizes the 2nd Amendment does not provide for all the killing episodes of the past several years.

We are a nation of law and order. It isn’t so much with these distraught individuals.

Overreach, some might argue.

A person gets in their car and kills one person and speeds away. How many squads would be in pursuit of him?

Allow at least one organized, trained squad to go after the potential mass murderers and contain them before it could happen.

Minnesota should be talking about it.
