Letters To The Editor

TO THE EDITOR:

Border patrol now says that 60,000 illegals have simply disappeared into the vast wilderness of the U.S.  They are so overwhelmed but heck, the Democrats don’t care because they will all be Democrat voters.  Remember when democrats killed police reform bill that was written by black Senator Tim Scott.  NOW, Democrats are all for it! U of M student has been telling people to place “FAKE” calls to the police.  And one wonders why well over a thousand police have already resigned, retired or just plain gave it up.

Remember when Biden called Trump a racist when he stopped all flights from China?  Biden stopping flights from India, no problem now.  77% of Americans favor voter ID.  The other 23% must be Democrats.  Government checks are keeping people from going back to work.  Yes, the GDP is up and that is because red states have been open for a long time and business is booming.  The $6 trillion the Democrats are pushing is more than we spent in ALL wars since the Revolutionary War.  261 transgender men have applied to be put into women’s prison.  Yes, transgender criminals are not stupid for sure.  And finally, Iran is back to full nuclear production and they are thanking our President.

TO THE EDITOR:

In reference to Dr. Heather P. Abrahamson’s April 24th letter attempting to confirm that BHS teaches the Constitution, I think the question more precisely is, “How is the US Constitution being taught?”  Do you teach that the Constitution is a living document or an out dated document written by slave holders that need not be followed today because we are so much smarter than they were back then?  Or are you teaching how the Constitution was created to protect the citizens from a tyrannical government.  It’s the checks and balances described in the Constitution, the delineation of the three equal branches that allowed for the Civil Rights Act to be passed in the 1960’s — that allowed for the eventual abolishment of slavery, it established our “justice” system.

So Dr. Abrahamson, how do you teach this document?  You said in your letter that, “I believe we should teach about the Constitution in a way that includes all voices.  We can support the constitution and Indigenous, LGBT, Black, and Brown students. . .” , which tells me that you believe that the Constitution is racist document for only straight White people, and yet when I read it, it talks about the “People” of the United States, all inclusive.

TO THE EDITOR:

Responding to Dr. Abrahamson: While I agree with most of your recent letter, I feel there are some things that don’t need to be taught in school. Sexual orientation is one of them. Simply put in your letter, to say all people should be regarded with respect should be clear enough for kids to understand. Leave some things for parents to discuss with their children if they so choose. Also, teachers don’t need to be discussing with their class where they (teachers) stand politically.

Responding to Tom Emmer’s column: If you sincerely believe in the sanctity of life, why do you select babies born alive after an attempted abortion for the legislation you propose. Does that mean someone must attempt to abort a baby to be charged with murder? Doesn’t make sense. Why not go all the way and prosecute all who perform abortions at any stage of pregnancy including born alive? A baby is a person from the moment of conception and should be considered in the defense and support of all life.
