Letters To The Editor

TO THE EDITOR:

People, wake up! We need to hold our politicians accountable for their actions for what they do and say. We can be held accountable. We have lost guidance from a very important source. It says, “Forgive then for they know not what they do.” Oh! But they know exactly what they are doing. I watched a little of Mr. Kennedy’s confirmation hearing. Kennedy was confronting Sanders on getting big payouts from big pharma. I thought Mr. Sanders was going to have a heart attack. Then I thought his eye balls were going to pop out of his head. Kind of funny, but not. The truth hurts. How many other Bernie Sanders are there in Washington? It’s time to get the corrupt politicians out. From our school boards, mayors on up to the White House. Vote them out, recall, sanctions, gag orders, tribunals, impeachment...whatever it takes! Just remember, “Tampon machines in men’s bathrooms...guess who? Marry your brother so he can get U.S. citizenship...guess who? I thought Minnesotans had better common sense and intelligence than this. Guess not. We should rely on politicians that care for us. Drain the Minnesota swamp as well as the nation’s.

TO THE EDITOR:

I fully agree with last week’s letter to the editor regarding  Frontier. One year ago my average monthly bill was roughly $60. A connectivity credit from the Federal government was eliminated. Each time I called I was on hold from 45-60+ minutes. Then I was informed that my Lifeline Credit expired previously but they neglected to inform me. I contacted Lifeline and after three months of back and forth paperwork I was again accepted into lifeline and I was to contact Frontier and give them my Q-number. This was done by me but every month they have not credited my account. They kept saying I needed to complete the lifeline paperwork even though they had the required Q-number. They could be getting paid by lifeline and still billing me. Again in February my bill is $97. (My neighbor’s is $92 and we have the exact same). Yes, they push autopay but they cannot be trusted as to the monthly dollar amount. in that they charge additional fee when paying by check. Frontier has a basic essential charge, internet charge, line charge, carrier cost recovery charge.  Another paragraph lists 10  charges totaling $15. Do they reimburse the state, county, suicide & mental health, etc. that Frontier charges us for them? Their internet speed is the “lowest offered in my area” causing Frontier internet message “not responding.”  This Frontier conglomerate is operating illegally in my opinion.  What happened to the lawsuit that was initiated against them years ago. If it was settled, I did not receive a check, Did anyone else? What can be done to fight them? Would calling Federal Trade Commission help us?

TO THE EDITOR:

Did anyone see the Star Tribune story (2/12/25) about the land sale of for $73.5 million?  The photo caption stated that “Amazon is proposing to install 250 diesel generators at its planned data center on a parcel. . .” Let’s assume that each diesel generator is capable of generating 6,200 kw. 250 time 6,200 = 1,550,000 kw or 1,550 MW Sherco Units 1 and 2 are each rated for 680 MW (Unit 2 was shutdown the end of 2023). Sherco Unit 3 is rated for 876 MW. So you are telling me that the plan is still to shut down our coal fired generators and then site essentially 250 locomotive engines to generate the same amount of power for this Amazon server farm?
