George Quinn’s Patriot letter (August 10) plays loose with facts, the English language, and with being civil.Already in sentence two, he reached full speed calling the “removal” of President Biden a coup. It was neither. A coup is a violent and unlawful seizure of power. Removed? Coup? He is still in office! January 6? Now that was a coup (attempt). Shortly, Mr. Quinn asks the reader to “learn the constitution” and it “will support my opinion”. I know The Constitution (Note capitalization, Mr. Quinn.) as well as the next patriot and am baffled how “the constitution” supports your opinion.
Shortly, Mr. Quinn refers to Governor Tim Walz as “Czar Waltz”. Is Mr. Walz a dancer? Is he a Russian Dictator? Name calling does not enlighten anyone. Should I call Mr. Quinn Gorgeous George or Georgie Porgie? Useless and insulting, I won’t. Name calling is bad.Let me just highlight a few of his remaining missteps: The word is not “paulbearers”, it is pallbearers. Quinn then went after Governor Walz for “the local media” “letting him slide” for just about everything. Everything? Really? I must stop now because it’s exhausting responding to such vituperations.

TO THE EDITOR:
Have you noticed a new energy in Minnesota and the U.S? After months of Republican fear-mongering and divisiveness, finger-pointing, name-calling and outright meanness, we have a Democratic ticket that exudes energy and hope for the future. Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are from middle-class backgrounds. They use words like “opportunity” and “hope”. They believe that everyone should have a fair shot at success and that the rich should pay their fair share. More importantly, they believe in democracy. Jeanne Hendricks, another candidate with a middle-class background, shares the beliefs of Harris and Walz. She is honest and straight-forward. She will represent all of us in Congressional District 6 (CD6). Please vote for Jeanne. Make America kind again.

TO THE EDITOR:
Our politicians (Republican & Democrat) seem to care more about other countries borders more than ours. The news stated there was a bipartisan border security bill and the republicans are to blame for not passing. Did you know the bill for $118.28 billion(B) had; $60.06 B to Ukraine for their war, (about 3X more than our southern border), $14.1 B in security assistance for Israel, $10 B in humanitarian assistance for Gaza, Ukraine, West Bank and others in conflict, $2.33 B for Ukrainian & other refugees, $4.83 B to deter China , $20.23 B for our borders and misc.? So give me a break! Our government is broken; they spend money like a drunken sailor (no disrespect) and we are $35 TRILLION in debt! So vote for NO more wars like your kids and grandkids’ life depends on it, because it does.
