Letters To The Editor

TO THE EDITOR:

I noticed in the article by the Becker Superintendent that he was talking about celebrating differences.  When I went to school years ago we were working on desegregating our schools. Now it seems like we are segregating our schools by celebrating differences.  Can’t we all be Americans and work together.

TO THE EDITOR:

Congratulations to Principal Bob Dockendorf and the BLHS staff and students for again taking part in their annual internship program with area businesses and organizations. Also, to Liberty Bank for its giant support of the program. These annual internships are a reminder that, if our young students need a college education to serve their life’s passion, they should go to college. But there are many more professions for which an internship is a most important first step. Again, congratulations and the best of luck!

TO THE EDITOR:

Prior to this legislative session, it was assumed that Minnesotans know how to build, maintain, or remodel their own home. If they possess the necessary skills, they make the necessary repairs/upgrades. If they do not, they are smart enough to entire a trained and licensed professional. Current statute provides: “ An owner shall not be required to hold or obtain a license under sections 326B.31 to 326B.399.” But under a bill from Sen. McEwen (DFL), homeowners would be required to hire a licensed contractor if their home’s electrical utility is shared with another residence. Almost all residences in MN are on a shared electrical grid. If this bill becomes law under the trifecta, homeowners will need a license or hire a licensed contractor for even minimal repairs to the electrical system in their homes. Last week, three DFL senators proposed a bill to restrict the type of paint allowed in MN homes and who may apply it. Keep your eyes on St. Paul...the trifecta is exercising their muscles...and not for the benefit of most Minnesotans.
