TO THE EDITOR:
On June 20th, I attended a Board of Commissioners Workshop on the Northstar Train and left more frustrated then when I arrived. Two of the five members, as I, would like to see the Northstar shutdown as it has not performed anywhere close to as promised, especially since Covid, only serving 55 Big Lake residents a day. (In 2022, where the average ticket price might be around $4, the subsidy per rider was north of $150) But the other three Commissioners, Fobbe, Danielowski and Gray still support this colossal waste of money as evident by them wanting to wait for the conduction of yet another “study” on the Northstar to be completed. Another study is not needed. The Northstar is a failed venture that is costing residents millions of dollars. These three commissioners however are using the wait and see approach as a pretense for not acting to withhold funding from the Northstar, unlike Anoka County which has now been withholding funds for years. I would have liked to direct you to the Sherburne County YouTube page to watch this Northstar Workshop but for some reason the cameras were turned off.
