Letters To The Editor

TO THE EDITOR:

Thank you, Mr. Sangiovanni, for your article asking: “How much more are [we Americans] going to take?”  Perhaps people haven’t noticed that our Government is punishing us. We need to keep ourselves informed and VOTE for trusted conservatives. Congressman Tom Emmer has just shown us that he can no longer be trusted to represent the overwhelming conservative majority in this district. (Note:  Our two Democrat senators do a fine job of representing the liberals.) Congressman Tom Emmer voted YES on the so-called “Respect for Marriage Act.”  This legislation legalizes (1) homosexual marriage; and (2) interracial marriage. The interesting fact is that both of these kinds of marriage were already legal!  Didn’t Tom Emmer know that?  God designed and defined marriage when He said, “A man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife.” (Genesis 2:24). Our human wisdom has changed God’s definition of marriage.  Such self-pride! (Romans 1:26-28). God never said He is against interracial marriage. God made us of one blood (Acts 17:26) – all different, yet all the same, all equally human.  Dr. Ben Carson, the famous (Black) neurosurgeon, said, “We all look the same on the inside.”  It’s time to stop talking about “race”.

TO THE EDITOR:

In the spirit of Christmas and a New Year next week I request the following: Dear Santa,  please send a leather-bound copy of the Bill of Rights to the city planner,  city attorney and planning commission. Dear Santa, have the city send an apology card to the Jacobsen family (owners of the old Big Lake H.S.) for decades of disrespect and gift the owners a profitable sale and finding some peace. A New Years resolution: The City of Big Lake will not make any R.E. tax deals or tax incentives to businesses outside city hall restrooms and the city will not gift any business tax incentives without the input and vote of the citizens of Big Lake. Dear Santa, please send to city attorney ALL United States Supreme Court and Minnesota Supreme Court decisions on murals...so he can make an informed decision and learn the difference between a sign and a mural while helping the city produce a constitutional mural ordinance and embrace the mural. A New Years resolution: That all members of city council and city staff will actually attend a Veterans Memorial and Veterans Day event. Dear Santa, please extend to all lakeside owners the same watering restrictions we non-lakeside residents are forced to abide by. No lake pumping during watering restrictions. A New Years resolution: The mayor, council members, and commission members can only serve two terms. It’s not a career. Dear Santa, please move the Farmers Market off the Lake Park frying pan to the parks picnic area. Dear Santa, please keep our Police,  Fire and Public Works employees safe.

TO THE EDITOR:

For those of you that don’t regularly travel Hwy 25 between Monticello and Big Lake, on Tuesday, December 20th, (0 degrees outside, bright sunny day), I noticed that all of the solar farm panels were completely covered with snow!  And how cold is it forecast to be on tomorrow the 21st? . . ., minus 11 degrees with more snow!   I sure am glad we have constructed and subsidized these solar farms especially which are supposed to replace Sherco, the coal plant in Becker,  when Xcel and the State closes it down in a couple years!
