Letters To The Editor

TO THE EDITOR:
This letter is about my friend, Jim Newberger, who is running for U. S. Senator, opposing Amy Klobuchar.
In 2014, I hosted a table at a nearby crisis pregnancy center banquet, and then asked former State Sen. Dave Brown to join our table. Since he had already been asked, he suggested that I contact Jim Newberger who had finished his first term as State Representative. At my invitation, Jim and his wife joined us for the following 2015 and 2016 banquets.
Over the years, Jim and his wife have become good friends of me and my wife. He is a fine Christian man who takes strong stands for pro-life, pro-family and marriage between a man and a woman. His opponent, Amy Klobuchar, stands against pro-life values and has worked to keep the amendment honoring marriage between a man and a woman out of the State Constitution. Jim and his family are active and well respected members of the church that my wife and I attend, and has strong support from many others in the church.
Jim Newberger has been a hard-working state representative for the past three two-year terms. He was instrumental in getting the natural gas power plant to be built soon, replacing the older coal-burning plants.
Please get out and vote this fall for my friend Jim. He is one of the best!

TO THE EDITOR:
I have known Doc “Grand Marshal” for many years and I just wanted to say Penny L. did an excellent job doing his story, of course Doc being humble, left out lots of things.
Many beef roasts, he and a friend Don served at the Legion and St. Luke’s Church people came from all over to eat his famous beef sandwiches.
He also was a member of St. Luke and usher for years and a communion person. I was in front of church when a priest poked him and said, “I need you to pass communion.” Doc said, “I can’t do that. “ Priest asked, “Why not?” Doc said, “I go the bar on Saturday night.” Father says, “What do you do there?” Doc says, “I drink beer.” Father says, “You are in.” And he still is. I just thought this would finish the story.

TO THE EDITOR:
I would like to thank all who came out to support the Dylan's Hope golf tournament on Saturday. We had great weather and a great turnout.
I would also like to give a huge shout out to Ian, Shelly and Krista at Pebble Creek for hosting the event, TRAK (Together Reaching Area Kids) and BYA (Becker Youth Association) for providing volunteers for the event.
Without you this event would not have gone as smoothly as it did. We had a record year this year with 183 golfers and 205 people for dinner. I would also like to say thank you to all of our sponsors.
Without all of you, none of this would be possible. Thank you again and look forward to seeing you all again at next year's event.
Dylan's Hope Board of Directors,

TO THE EDITOR:
The Clearwater Heritage Days Festival committee would like to say ‘Thank-You’ to everyone who came out for another fun Heritage Days festival Aug. 3 and 4!
After all the years of perfect sunshine, the weather finally caught up to us, and gave everybody a good soaking about half-way through the parade. But we’re happy to say that kids still left with plenty of parade candy to sustain them through the night
A big Thank-You goes out to the Clearwater Shopping Center owners for allowing the use of their site, the Clearwater Lions Club for all their hard work and dedication, to the business sponsors, and to the City of Clearwater staff and Fire Department, who were again all very generous with their support and their time. We hope to work together again next year as we showcase the best of Clearwater.
Clearwater Heritage Days Committee,
Clearwater, MN.
