TO THE EDITOR:
As a native Minnesotan, and retired law enforcement officer, I strive to uphold our fundamental American values. This letter is an appeal to those stealing, defacing or destroying campaign signs. Please stop!
District 15B is approximately 13% Democrat, 45 % Republican, and 42 % Independent. We understand emotions run high. However, campaign signs are an American tradition and First Amendment right. They are a symbol of America's free and fair elections.
Let us honor the right of every person, regardless of ideology or Party, to practice free speech. Disproportionate damage is done to campaigns who don't share in the 1.5 million in tax dollars the legislature disperses to DFL and GOP candidates. Albeit, all campaigns are harmed. It is suppression of voter rights when this takes place.
If you see something, say something. American values matter. I’m confident candidates Shane and Karla agree.

Independent Candidate for State Representative District 15B

TO THE EDITOR:
I am writing to encourage you to vote for Judge Lucinda Jesson for the Minnesota Court of Appeals. As one of nineteen Minnesota Court of Appeals judges, she has been serving in this capacity for nearly three years. Judge Jesson's professional background is impressive: Commissioner of Minnesota's Department of Human Services for five years; Chief Deputy Hennepin County Attorney; Hamline University School of Law faculty member; Deputy Minnesota Attorney General and a leading lawyer in private. practice when she was not serving the public.
Judge Jesson - known as Cindy to many - is a mom to four sons, has been married to her husband, Peter, for over 30 years, tutors third graders, serves on several statewide nonprofit boards like Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota.
Lots of us struggle to know which judges to vote for. Here are two things to consider. First, Judge Jesson's appointment was based on a merit-based selection process used by governors for over 30 years. It's not a partisan process. And if you want to know how she makes decisions, she makes that easy: she has posted all of her judicial opinions on her campaign website. You can read a few by visiting this website: https://judgelucindajesson.comlopinions/.

TO THE EDITOR:
I would like to respond to a letter to the editor by Mr. Truda Boler in last week’s paper. I am not aware of running a stop sign or pulling out in front of anyone on October 10. If I did I apologize. If I had known you were in the Coachhouse and know if I did it I would have apologized in person. You had the opportunity to approach me but chose not to.

TO THE EDITOR:
Our country is stuck in a severe red/blue divide. Gone are the days that Congress worked together to get things done, and most people voted based on issues and not on party. All issues are important, but one issue prevents the others from moving forward. Big Money corruption.
Tom Emmer has had four years to sign on to legislation, HJR 48, calling for legalizing spending limits. He has not. Instead, Emmer continues to take large sums of money from Big Donors, many of them not from our district – not even our state. Like the time he accepted $18,000 from Comcast right after he voted to allow your ISP to sell your personal information without your permission.

TO THE EDITOR:
Karla Scapanski has my vote for House District 15B. Karla realizes that this district faces many unique challenges. As a dairy farmer, child care provider, and health instructor with a degree from SCSU in Criminal Justice, Karla has a wealth of experience that helps her understand the complexities in our district.
Karla understands the need to support farm and small business economies while creating, maintaining, and providing training for competitive, well-paying jobs. Karla supports equitable funding to provide quality public education for all students and supports affordable, quality day care as well as rights of providers (and all workers) to organize. Karla supports expanding broadband for nearly 50% of homes in the district that have inadequate service, as well as updating a crumbling transportation system. Karla wants to make sure that Minnesota provides the best care for our aging population as well as access to affordable health care for all. Conversely, one opponent’s platform is “less government,” although he cannot articulate any plan for how that will help meet our needs.
