Letters To The Editor

TO THE EDITOR:

This letter is written in response to Mr. Bret R. Collier’s letter published on July 1, 2021 regarding Juneteenth. Thank you for your letter.  It inspired hope in me.  I hope that you benefit from an extra day off as a result of Juneteenth becoming a federal holiday.  I hope that you use this extra time to read more and further your education on the meaning of this day.  I hope that you take time to understand the difference between indentured servitude and slavery.  They are not the same.  I hope that you have the opportunity to engage in a conversation with someone to whom this day signifies meaning. I hope you can partake in a celebration.  Most of all, I hope that you take this time to put yourself in the shoes of those human beings who learned of their freedom on this day.  Can you imagine the happiness, the hope, and the elation they had in their hearts not only for themselves, but for their children, grandchildren, and generations to come?  I hope this holiday does not incite the racism alluded to in your letter, but rather gives us a day to come together to celebrate the core of what our country was founded on.  Freedom.

Bless your heart,

TO THE EDITOR:

In response to Mr. Wittwer and his comments on the recent election. What constitutes “widespread fraud”? would you say 30%, or 40% or 50-60%? All it would take to steal an election would be less than or around 1%. So yes, there was no “widespread” fraud but there was a small amount of fraud. If there was no fraud, and our elections perfectly replicate public opinion, why didn’t the Secretary of State in Georgia say so? Even the small percentage that was there was enough to tip the balance. If there was any fraud, then the whole election should be called into question. We should strive for greater election integrity in all states, Minnesota included, in federal, state, and local elections. What wrong could election integrity laws and measures do if the elections were truly correct? Elections are at the heart of our Republic. They must be protected from all threats, at all costs. Without secure elections, our nation cannot survive. Our values of freedom and liberty will be forgotten, our rights trampled, if we let this corruption continue.

TO THE EDITOR:

Even Biden’s administration has caved to the leftist teachers’ unions, NEA and AFT, in adding its support to the indoctrination of America’s K-12 learners in government-funded, and even many private, schools.  It fits with his progressive agenda to remake America into a Marxist-socialist-communist country.  Besides, he is married to a leftist-Marxist teacher. At its convention, the NEA pledged to “share and publicize” information about CRT in all 50 states and 14,000 school districts.  The NEA plans work with BLM groups to develop curricula. The AFT’s leader denies the inclusion of CRT in K-12 schools as she announced a legal defense fund of $2.5 million for any teachers charged with teaching CRT.  Oh, yes, she changed the name…it’s now teaching “honest history.” Parents object to the indoctrination, not to the exposure to different views based on facts.  But CRT and the debunked 1619 Project are propaganda, not facts. Parents express their views and question the school boards and administrators.  Some schools have eliminated public input at board meetings.  Some parents have mounted successful recall elections of progressive school boards.  Even more parents are voting with their feet and finding alternative learning opportunities for their children.

Take a stand; get involved.
